Welcome to the Forest Grove Senior & Community Center!
Forest Grove, one of the first settlements in the Oregon Territory owes its name to its many varieties of trees. The first Euro-American settlers arrived in West Tualatin Plains in 1841 and were soon joined by other missionaries, including those fleeing the tragedy of the 1847 Whitman Massacre. The rich soil and plentiful creeks made the area perfect for growing crops, and the abundant forests would provide a future lumber industry.
